About Highview

Located in the Highland Region of Northern New Jersey, we have a small, family based, selective breeding program, dedicated to preserving the form, function and versatility of the breed as it is known in Spain. All our dogs are raised in a family environment and are well socialized.

We always have strived to maintain the quality and versitility of this breed.  We register our litters with the AKC and we register our puppies  with the FCPR,  the member registry of the FCI, which is the international registry for this breed in North America.  If you wish to register your puppy with the AKC, you may do so with the registration application papers provided.

Highview Spanish Water Dogs will not deviate from Spain. We will continue to follow the standard as it is written with the FCI. We are a member in good standing and and  approved breeder with the parent breed club in Spain (A.E.P.A.E.)  and a member of the Spanish Water Dog Club, UK..

The AEPAE was created to introduce a breed of dog that was already ancient in the South of the Iberian Peninsula as well defined by Santiago Montesinos Rubio "there ... but no one knew", ie was there from time-honored with pastors in the Sierras, with hunters in The Marshes and fishermen in Las Costas ...

So you can see that the SWD also can:

  • air and ground scent - used today for bomb detection, search and rescue and drug detection

  • flush and retrieve small game

  • the SWD is a strong swimmer, capable of performing many water retrieving tasks, such as water rescue and recovery, diving tasks and water retreival for hunting

Our goal is to breed for excellance and temperament while maintaining the original structure, integrity and versitility of this breed.
